Based in Oak Park and serving the Chicago Area out of Monroe Harbor. Our training vessel is the renowned Nelson Marek 40, Tango winner of 3 time winner of the SSYC Queen’s Cup and 2018 Sect 3 Mackinac Race winner. The instructors include 3 Mackinac champions, 2 of whom are Island Goat Sailing Society members (they’ve sailed in over 25 Mac races). Get out on the water this summer!

I’ve had an accomplished career racing boats on Lake Michigan and around the country. It’s time to give back to the sailing community so that teens can begin their transition from small boats to big boats. The sailing community – cruising and racing – needs more young people. GLYSA is here to teach your kids the skills and self confidence to have them appreciate sailing (hopefully) for the rest of their lives.
